Emmanuel, Adesuwa Crowned Champions Of 46th CBN Tennis Tourney

In a thrilling culmination of the 46th Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Open Tennis Championship at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Tennis Complex in Abuja, Michael Emmanuel and Adesuwa Osabuohien were crowned champions in the men’s and women’s singles categories, respectively.
Emmanuel showcased his prowess in the men’s singles final, delivering a stellar performance against Ikenna Okonkwo. After a gripping match, he secured victory with a scoreline of 7-6, 3-6, 6-2, demonstrating both resilience and tactical brilliance.

On the women’s side, Adesuwa Osabuohien staged a remarkable comeback to triumph over Emmanuel Essien in a rain-disrupted final. After losing the first set, Osabuohien rallied to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, claiming the prestigious title.

During the closing ceremony, Ifeadayo Akindoju, President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), praised the Central Bank of Nigeria for its unwavering commitment to the growth of tennis in the country over the years.

“CBN has been a strong pillar for tennis development in Nigeria,” Akindoju remarked. “This tournament continues to provide a crucial platform for our athletes to evolve and compete at the highest levels.”

The 46th edition of the CBN Tennis Championship successfully reaffirmed its place as one of Nigeria’s premier sporting events, attracting top talents and highlighting the significance of sustained investment in both grassroots and elite tennis development.
