Barrister Lucky Eseigbe has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben Federal Constituency after recording a landslide victory in the party’s primary election held in Edo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eseigbe defeated incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Marcus Onobun, and other aspirants to secure the APC ticket with a commanding 6,897 votes, consolidating his support base across the constituency.
The result was officially announced following the conclusion of the primary exercise monitored by party officials and stakeholders.
Following his victory, Eseigbe was presented with his Certificate of Return at the APC State Secretariat alongside other successful candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries across the state.
Speaking after the exercise, Eseigbe described his emergence as a victory for the people of Esan Central, Esan West and Igueben, pledging to provide inclusive leadership and effective representation if elected in 2027.
According to him, the outcome of the primary election reflects the trust and confidence party members have reposed in his leadership and vision for the constituency.
“This victory belongs to the people. It is a call to greater service and commitment to building a stronger and more progressive constituency for our people,” he said.
Party supporters and stakeholders also hailed the outcome of the primary, describing Eseigbe as a grassroots politician with strong support across the federal constituency.
An APC chieftain, Prince Kelly Udebhulu, said the emergence of Eseigbe followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders, adding that the primary result reflected the collective decision of the party ahead of the general elections.
He urged APC members to remain united and mobilise support for the party as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
