A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chidi Nwogu, has lauded the victory of Enugu Rangers at the just concluded Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) where the club emerged champion and smiled home with a cash prize of N150 million..
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Nwogu applauded the various improvements resulting in turnout, interest and enthusiasm by stakeholders in the just ended league season.
He commended the NPFL chairman Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye and members of his board as well as the sports development minister, Senator John Owan-Enoh, who he said his leadership spurred up Nigerians both players and spectators for the success recorded in the domestic top flight league.
“Also to be commended are sports loving governors like Dr Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara and Godwin Obaseki of Edo States.
“Their investments in sports must be commended and most especially, the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has been positive and supportive in changing the face of Nigerian sports through his Sports Minister Senator Enoh,” Nwogu said.
The former lawmaker also in the statement congratulated the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on his birthday described the former House of Representatives Speaker as an embodiment of humility and perseverance who has contributed to the growth of democracy in Nigeria.
“I want to wish the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, a splendid birthday. I celebrate him today and always. He is an embodiment of humility and perseverance and he has contributed significantly to the growth of democracy in Nigeria.”
