Abia Warriors have surged to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a crucial 2-1 victory against Niger Tornadoes, leapfrogging Nasarawa United in the process. This win elevates Abia Warriors to 21 points, two ahead of their nearest rivals.

The match, held at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna, saw Abia take control early on, with their first goal coming in the 15th minute. Despite Niger Tornadoes equalising shortly after half-time, Abia Warriors responded swiftly, reclaiming the lead and ultimately securing the three points that propelled them to the top of the table.

Nasarawa United, who started the day in first place, suffered a setback as they fell 1-0 to Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. The defeat leaves Nasarawa on 19 points, now facing the pressure of chasing down the new leaders.

In other matches on matchday 11, Wikki Tourist and Barau played out a goalless draw, while Bayelsa United edged past Plateau United with a 2-1 victory. El Kanemi Warriors and Enugu Rangers also finished without goals, ending their match 0-0.

Enyimba secured a comfortable 2-0 win against Kano Pillars, and Ikorodu City triumphed over Kun Khalifat with the same scoreline. Meanwhile, the clash between Shooting Stars and Katsina United ended in a 1-1 stalemate. On 1 November, Bendel Insurance and Warri Wolves also shared the points in a 1-1 draw, while Kwara United put on a strong performance to defeat Remo Stars 3-1.

As the league continues to heat up, all eyes will be on Abia Warriors as they seek to maintain their lead in the coming fixtures.
