Founder and CEO of Aggital Works, Oghoghozino Otefia, has called on the Nigerian government to take decisive action in supporting startups to drive information technology (IT) growth across the nation, highlighting the pivotal role of emerging companies in fostering innovation and economic development.

Speaking at the opening of Aggital Works’ edifice in Lagos, Otefia disclosed that there was an urgent need for more intervention from the government to support the tech industry beyond current efforts. He underscored the need for grants and policies that foster innovation.

He asserted that the digital industry in Nigeria is mostly self-funded and heavily relies on foreign tools and investments. “There is a need to help nurture and harness the potential of talents in the information technology and digital space,” he stated.

He noted that Aggital Works’ expansion initiative was designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and productivity, offering a dynamic environment for both clients and employees.

He, however, reiterated the firm’s commitment to providing innovative digital solutions as part of its strategic plan to enhance its services by expanding its footprint and improving service delivery in the digital space.

According to him, “This marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey and highlights our commitment to providing innovative digital solutions in Nigeria. We are thrilled to welcome our clients and partners to our new space.”

He asserted that over the years, the firm has earned a reputation for helping businesses embrace the digital age.

“With this new office and clear strategic goals, Aggital Works is poised to make an even greater impact in Nigeria’s digital landscape,” he said.

Otefia reflected on the company’s humble beginnings in 2016, sharing how determination and innovation turned a small startup into a thriving agency.

“We started from my home, then moved to a rented space. Today, we own our office. It’s been a journey of hard work, faith, and perseverance, and we thank God for how far we’ve come,” Otefia said.

He added, “A breakthrough came when the company successfully delivered a project that changed everything. The client became one of our biggest supporters, showing the importance of persistence and quality work.”

He highlighted that the flagship product, Ushoppen, is a game-changer for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as it enables businesses to create websites, list products, and manage sales without technical expertise.

“Our mission is to make digital tools accessible and affordable for SMEs. The edge the platform has over others is that we do not charge transaction fees, giving businesses the freedom to grow without financial strain,” Otefia explained.

Similarly, the firm has ambitious plans for Ushoppen, aiming to reach five million users within five years while expanding its services to support SMEs across Nigeria. It is also exploring new industries, including real estate and advanced digital services, to diversify its offerings.

He acknowledged the challenges faced while hiring skilled talent to secure major projects in its formative days.

“We started by training friends and family to save costs. Over time, we’ve learned how to balance serving high-end clients with meeting the needs of a broader audience,” he said.

He added, “This event celebrates teamwork, resilience, and faith, inspiring attendees with the company’s strong values and vision for the future.”
