Wolverhampton Wanderers’ FA Cup triumph over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday was marred by violent clashes among fans at the Hawthorns.

The match was temporarily halted by referee Thomas Bramall in the second half when altercations broke out in the stands and fans invaded the pitch.

The disturbance, which caused a significant delay of 38 minutes, occurred shortly after Wolves extended their lead in the 78th minute with Matheus Cunha’s goal.

The game eventually resumed and concluded without further disruption, with Wolves sealing a 2-0 victory.

This was the first match in 12 years between the two rivals with fans in attendance, and the tension escalated into large-scale violence. West Brom supporters reportedly initiated the conflict, targeting Wolves fans who were seated in an area designated for home supporters.

The situation intensified with missiles and punches thrown, prompting police and stewards to intervene. Both teams temporarily left the field, with West Brom’s Kyle Bartley seen carrying his child away from the vicinity of the clashes.

Earlier in the match, there were instances of unrest, including the use of flares in the Wolves’ section and objects thrown at Wolves player Tommy Doyle during a corner kick.

West Bromwich Albion is likely to face an investigation by the Football Association regarding the incident, particularly concerning the ticket allocation that allowed Wolves fans to be seated in the home section.
