Fabregas Reaffirms Commitment to Como Amid Chelsea Speculation

Cesc Fabregas has moved quickly to quash rumours linking him with a sensational return to Stamford Bridge. Despite the managerial vacancy at Chelsea following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, the former Blues midfielder insisted his “chapter” at Como is far from over.

Chelsea are currently being steered by interim boss Calum McFarlane, but the hunt for a permanent successor has naturally led the London club’s hierarchy to consider their former creative maestro.

The flames of speculation were fanned earlier on Friday when Como’s president, Mirwan Suwarso, suggested he would not block a move if Fabregas desired the Chelsea job. However, speaking ahead of Como’s Serie A encounter with Genoa, Fabregas was characteristically blunt about the links.

“Nothing to say about that; it’d be stupid to think about that now—my focus is on the next game against Genoa. I didn’t even see any quote from our president. I believe I will continue my chapter as Como head coach. Focus on the next games.”

Fabregas has earned plaudits for his tactical fluidity in Italy, and while the lure of the Premier League remains strong, he seems intent on proving his managerial mettle in Serie A before considering a homecoming to West London.
