Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that the FCT Administration will construct additional Bus Terminals in Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils of the FCT.

Wike disclosed this when he inspected the dualisation of Ushafa to War College and Check Point Road project in Bwari Area Council and the Abuja International Conference Centre, on Saturday.

The Wike-led FCT Administration had in 2024 awarded contracts for the construction of bus and taxi terminals in Mabushi, Central Area and Kugbo.

The projects in Mabushi and Kugbo were ready for inauguration while that of the Central Area was ongoing.

The minister explained that the decision to construct the additional terminals was to expand the initiative to the satellite towns to ensure inclusion in service delivery.

“We have agreed that we are going to construction one bus terminal in Gwagwalada and another in Bwari.

“This will enable people to board a taxi or bus from Bwari down to the city, either to the Mabushi Bus Terminal, Kugbo Terminal or Central Area Bus Terminal and the same thing applies to Gwagwalada.

“By the time we have done that, people will be safe; and people will be secured.

“You can now go to any bus terminal, board a taxi and go wherever you want to go without the fear of becoming a victim of ‘one chance’.

LEADERSHIP reports that ‘Once chance’ syndicate are criminals who posed as taxi drivers to rob passengers of their valuables.

Wike warned that anyone who decided to board a taxi or bus by the roadside after the bus terminals had become operational would be at his or her own risk.

He stressed that the government has done what it was supposed to do by constructing bus terminals in strategic locations in FCT.
