Former Turkish international Zeki Önder has urged Galatasaray to make an ambitious move for Bruno Fernandes, insisting the arrival of the Manchester United captain could be crucial in convincing Victor Osimhen to remain in Istanbul.
Osimhen has enjoyed a sensational campaign with the Turkish champions, further cementing his reputation as one of the most sought-after strikers in world football. His performances have reportedly attracted strong interest from several European heavyweights, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
With speculation surrounding the Nigerian forward’s future continuing to intensify, Önder believes Galatasaray must respond with a statement signing capable of matching the club’s growing ambitions on the European stage.
Speaking to Vole, the former midfielder said Fernandes would not only strengthen Galatasaray creatively but could also provide the kind of elite partnership needed to persuade Osimhen to extend his stay.
“With Osimhen leading the attack, I can’t think of a single reason to say no to Fernandes,” Önder said.
“That type of transfer would directly strengthen Galatasaray’s push for success in the UEFA Champions League. In the Turkish league, Fernandes would create serious problems for every opponent.”
Önder also suggested the signing of the Portugal international would send a strong message to Galatasaray’s domestic rivals, including Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor.
According to the former Turkey international, the prospect of Fernandes supplying chances for Osimhen could transform Galatasaray into genuine contenders in Europe while reinforcing their dominance at home.
“Fernandes joining the club would make Osimhen want to stay,” Önder added.
“Just imagine those two together, fully fit and injury-free. It would be an incredible combination.”
Despite his enthusiasm, Önder admitted completing a deal for Fernandes would be extremely difficult given the player’s status at Manchester United and the financial demands involved in such a transfer.
“The chances of Galatasaray signing him are very slim,” he acknowledged.
Even so, Önder’s comments reflect the growing optimism among Galatasaray supporters that the club can continue attracting elite-level talent as they seek to establish themselves among Europe’s leading sides.
For now, much of the focus remains on Osimhen’s future, with the striker expected to be one of the most in-demand players in the upcoming transfer window.
