The managing director and chief executive officer of Prima Dharma Centre, Dr Mohammed Bashir Danmallam, has unveiled two advanced laser machines aimed at transforming dermatological treatment in Nigeria and Africa.

He disclosed this during the launch of the Nigermed Skincare Centre at a dinner held in Abuja over the weekend.

Dammallam said one of the devices, manufactured in Italy based on American technology, is designed y for the treatment of acne and pimples, describing it as the first of its kind in Africa.

The second laser machine is built to manage a wide range of skin conditions, including hyperpigmentation, sunburn, scars, keloids, tattoos and tribal marks, and is similarly rare within the region.

According to him, the machines address dermatological needs that cannot be effectively treated with topical creams or oral medication alone.

“There are certain skin conditions that require more than routine medication. From time to time, specialised machines are necessary to achieve proper treatment, which is why these lasers were acquired,” he said.

Dammallam declined to disclose the full cost of the investment but described the equipment as “very, very expensive.”

He said the facility is designed to serve all segments of the population, stressing that acne alone accounts for about 80 per cent of dermatology visits worldwide.

He added that common challenges within Nigeria, such as dark spots, sunburn and uneven skin pigmentation, had further expanded the need for advanced treatment options.

The medical expert also revealed that the centre plans to sustain innovation by continually introducing state-of-the-art technologies used globally to ensure Nigerians have access to modern skincare solutions locally.
