Kano State House of Assembly has appealed to the state government to call on Hadejia/Jamaare River Basin Development Authority and the federal government to stop water from overflowing through the Tiga Dam in order to avert further havoc in the state.

The House made the call at yesterday’s plenary session presided over by the speaker, Hon Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari. The appeal followed a joint motion of urgent public interest moved by the lawmakers representing Kiru, Bebeji and Rano constituencies and presented by the deputy speaker and member representing Kiru constituency, Hon Kabiru Hassan Dashi.

The matter was deliberated and the House adopted the motion as well as sympathised with the affected communities and prayed to Allah to prevent such occurrence in the future.
