Former Chelsea And Man Utd Goalkeeper Coach Dies At 67

Former Manchester United and Chelsea goalkeeper coach Silvino Louro has passed away at the age of 67.

The devastating news was announced by Real Madrid – where he spent three years – in a statement on Thursday evening.

Silvino Louro was Mourinho’s goalkeeping coach across two decades during his time managing Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Louro, who reportedly died following a long illness, worked with the likes of Petr Cech, Julio Cesar, Iker Casillas, and David de Gea.

He won multiple trophies under Mourinho, including two Champions League titles, the Treble with Inter and three Premier League crowns across two spells at Chelsea.

Vitor Baia, Cech and Cesar were also all named as UEFAs Best Goalkeeper while working with Louro.

Posting a photograph to X of Louro holding the Community Shield, which he won in 2005 and 2009, Chelsea wrote: “Everyone at Chelsea FC is deeply saddened by the passing of our former goalkeeping coach, Silvino Louro.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Cech took to his Instagram story to share a picture of him embracing Louro during their time at Chelsea, along with the caption, “R.I.P”, and some emojis.

Former Blues captain John Terry also posted a photo of Louro, writing, “RIP My friend. What a great man”, along with a blue loveheart.

Ex-United keeper De Gea simply posted a loveheart and dove emoji, while the club wrote on X: “We are saddened to learn our former goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro has passed away.

“Our thoughts go out to Silvino’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
