Members of Isuikwuato Stakeholders Forum has advised Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu not to inaugurate the ongoing referral Laboratory and Diagnostic Centre at Isuikwuato General Hospital, Mbalano, until it is completed.

The forum in a reaction to the state government’s naming the centre among completed projects Ikpeazu is scheduled to inaugurate before his exit from office on May 29, 2023, said its members visited the site and observed that “it is yet to be completed and therefore unfit for commissioning as the site is overgrown with weeds.”

The statement was signed by the coordinator Charles Omesie Ojukwu, secretary, Chulowuemeka Oluoha and public relations officer, Innocent Chinweuba Maduuko, respectively.

Ojukwu said, “We noted that the civil work completion stands at about 65 percent, electrical installation and fittings are yet to be carried out, and the sanitary wares and fittings, including waste disposal system are still outstanding.

“External painting of the uncompleted building has been abandoned with the front of the building only partially done and the diagnostic equipment are not yet delivered or installed.”

The group appealed to Ikpeazu to liaise with the supervising ministry of the project to ascertain its level of completion and compliance with the specifications before embarking on the trip.

“This is to ensure that your Excellency is fully aware of the completion status of the projects and to avoid disappointment and embarrassment,” he said.

According to the forum, all efforts to reach the contractor proved abortive as the project is without signpost to indicate the project sponsors, address of the contractor, and the consultant.

“We are available for any assistance that may be required from us to bring this project to a successful completion,” they said.
