The Idris Kashim Hussein HK Foundation has launched a new wave of humanitarian interventions across the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, commissioning critical projects and covering school fees for hundreds of pupils.

One of the highlights was the completion of an erosion-control project in Emewe Opada, which restored access to the state capital after six months of isolation caused by a severe gully.

The foundation also covered the school fees of 315 pupils from Ofoji Community Secondary School, easing the financial pressure on parents and guardians.

At Ate Uge, Idris Kashim Hussein flagged off an electricity extension project, with engineers scheduled for mobilisation on 15 December.

Speaking at one of the commissioning ceremonies, the businessman and philanthropist stressed that his activities were strictly humanitarian.

“As of today, I have no ambition for any political office. I am only a businessman who loves his people.

“But if the communities insist one day that I should contest so I can serve them better, I will not refuse.”

He expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Dekina LGA Chairman, John Urah, saying the foundation would continue to complement the government’s development initiatives.

The principal of Ofoji Community Secondary School, Yahaya Ocheni, joined students and community leaders to present an award to Idris, describing his support as a “life-changing intervention”.

Abocho youth leader, Siaka Usman, also lauded the gesture. His remarks prompted Idris to announce that he would clear any outstanding fees still owed by pupils and complete a promised borehole before 15 January 2026.

In Anyigba, the Ogohi Onu Anyigba, Shaibu Abu Okolo, blessed the philanthropist after he apologised for installing a transformer in Obeya Lile without prior notice, explaining that he acted swiftly after seeing the community’s appeals online.

Community leaders across the area said Idris funded the reclamation and development works immediately after learning of their challenges, describing his interventions as timely and transformative.
