The Healthy and Sanitise Environment Foundation (THASEF) has commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti of Abia State for his bold and visionary investment in smart school buildings across the state.

The group described the initiative as a transformative step towards improving the quality of education and securing a brighter future for Abia pupils.

In a statement issued in Owerri by the director of Media and Publicity Dr Onyedim Sylvia on behalf of the organisation, THASEF noted that the provision of smart schools demonstrated the governor’s commitment to educational excellence, innovation, and human capital development.

The foundation emphasised that creating modern learning environment equipped with digital technology would enhance teaching and learning, prepare students for the demands of the 21st-century economy, and foster academic excellence.

THASEF further stated that quality educational infrastructure is a critical component of sustainable development, as it empowers young people with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The organization observed that Governor Otti’s investment in smart schools reflects a clear understanding that education remains one of the strongest tools for reducing poverty, promoting social inclusion, and driving economic growth.

The Foundation also highlighted that the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, Goal 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Goal 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.

THASEF therefore encouraged other state governments to emulate the Abia State Government by investing in modern educational infrastructure that guarantees every Nigerian child access to a safe, conducive, inclusive, and technology-driven learning environment.

While applauding Governor Otti for this landmark achievement, THASEF reaffirmed its commitment to promoting policies and initiatives that advance quality education, environmental sustainability, and community development across Nigeria.

The Foundation expressed its readiness to partner with governments and relevant stakeholders in promoting programmes that improve learning outcomes and enhance the well-being of future generations.
