Foundation Sponsors 200 JAMB Registrations For Zamfara Students

The AUG Foundation has commenced the sponsorship and supervision of 200 free registrations for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for indigent students across Zamfara State.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Foundation’s founder, Abdulhafiz Umar Barau (Dan Isan Gusau/Magayakin Tsafe), is targeted at supporting vulnerable students seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

Beneficiaries were drawn from communities across the state, with coordination carried out through six emirate councils — Gusau, Bungudu, Maru, Tsafe, Dansadau, and Kwatarkwashi — to ensure transparency, inclusiveness, and equitable representation.

The Foundation said it is not only funding the registrations but also directly supervising the process to ensure that beneficiaries are properly captured without hindrance.

Speaking during the registration exercise in Gusau, the Foundation’s State Coordinator, Comrade Abdul Bala Gusau, who represented the founder, said the intervention was aimed at mitigating the impact of economic hardship on low-income families.

He explained that the initiative forms part of the Foundation’s broader education support programme.

“Our goal is to ensure that no qualified student in Zamfara is denied the opportunity to pursue tertiary education due to financial constraints,” he said.

According to him, working through the emirate councils was designed to guarantee grassroots participation and prevent exclusion in the selection process.

He added that beneficiaries who excel in the examination may be considered for further support under the Foundation’s scholarship scheme.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely amid prevailing economic challenges.

They said the sponsorship had not only eased financial pressure on families but also restored hope among aspiring students across the state.

The Foundation noted that it continues to implement programmes in education, healthcare, food support, and financial assistance for vulnerable residents across Zamfara State.

It reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, inclusive development, and sustained humanitarian service in the state.
