Germany, Nigeria To Stregthen Cultural Partnership With Film Week In 4 Cities

The inaugural Germany-Nigeria Film Week 2026 has been slated for October 1–10, 2026 across Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen and Hannover.

The upcoming event marks a major step in cultural diplomacy and cinematic collaboration between the two countries.

In a press release by the Directors Guild of Nigeria public relations officer, Emmanuel Eyaba, the 10-day event is being organised by Germany’s SONNENKIND Film e.V. and Nigeria’s Pan-African Film Development Foundation.

It aims to deepen ties between both film industries, unlock investment opportunities, encourage co-productions and showcase Nigerian cinema alongside Germany’s renowned production infrastructure.

Eyaba said the festival will gather filmmakers, directors, producers, studio executives, government officials, cultural ambassadors, investors and distributors from Africa and Europe.

He said the programme includes exclusive Nigerian and African film screenings, masterclasses on co-production and distribution, studio tours in Germany, and Business-to-Business (B2B) pitching sessions to connect creators with financiers.

The event opens in Berlin on 1st October, moves to Hamburg and Bremen, and ends in Hannover on 10th October with a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony honouring artistic achievements and cross-cultural collaborations.

Organisers call it a milestone that gives Nigerian filmmakers structured access to European markets while offering European audiences an immersive look at Africa’s dynamic cinema scene.
