Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commissioned five life-touching projects for Oro ethnic nationality and rewarded with overwhelming endorsement for his second term bid by leaders, elders and stakeholders of the zone.

The projects included a Model Primary Health Centre; Youth Development Centre; 4.2 kilometre Effiong Esang and Ukpong Streets, alongside 800 metres of discharge drains; and a new administrative building at Oron local government area headquarters.

Inaugurating the Model Primary Health Centre, Governor Eno, charged the people of Oron to avail themselves of the accessibility, affordability, and high quality service of the health facility to improve on their health status.

He stated that the Youth Development Centre, also in Oron LGA, was the first to be completed, adding that similar centres would be replicated across the 31 councils of the state, and urged youths to take full advantage of the facilities in their respective areas for their personal development and the overall progress of the State.

The Governor said when completed across the 31 council areas, a total of 31,000 youths would be trained annually in different skills, including ICT, fashion/design, catering, and others, which he said, was the major reason behind his creation of a stand- alone ministry of youth development “in order to prioritize the empowerment of youths in the state.”

The governor noted that the youth friendly centres, primary health centres and other facilities of government across the state are targeted at decentralizing development and reducing rural- urban migration.

Commissioning the 4.2km roads with 800 metre discharge drains, the governor said the excitement was not really that the roads have been constructed but the fact that the suffering of the people occasioned by the devastating erosion and the deplorable vicinity has finally ended.

At the local government administrative block named after him, the governor commended the chairman of Oron Local Government Council, Hon. Okon Asukwo Enmewe, for his great sense of hard work, and commitment to service, and also commended all the local government chairmen in the state for their impactful leadership, and assured of continuous partnership for the development of the state.
