The commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his steadfast commitment to securing the state, describing the governor’s support for collaborative security initiatives as pivotal to the prevailing peace in the state.

Kankarofi gave the commendation while presiding over a high-level strategic security meeting with local government chairmen and heads of security agencies at the State Police Headquarters, Lokoja, yesterday.

The Police public relations officer (PPRO), CSP William Aya, said the meeting formed part of the command’s renewed efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and enhance intelligence-driven operations across the state.

The CP acknowledged the vital role the Ododo administration has played in sustaining a stable security environment and praised security agencies and council chairmen for their contributions to maintaining order.

He urged all stakeholders to sustain their collaboration, stressing that synergy remains the most effective pathway to a safer and more prosperous Kogi.

Highlighting the importance of intelligence sharing, CP Kankarofi said the command will intensify community policing initiatives to deepen public trust and cooperation, emphasising that tackling emerging security threats requires stronger inter-agency collaboration and seamless communication among security formations.

Delivering a keynote address, the State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd.), described synergy as the bedrock of effective security management in the state and commended the commissioner of Police for convening the strategic meeting, which he said would boost public confidence and advance the state’s security objectives.

Omodara reiterated Governor Ododo’s commitment to supporting collaborative security efforts and recommended that such strategic engagements be held quarterly to sustain momentum and improve operational efficiency.

The meeting was attended by top security officials, including the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Aletan Olumide Ebenezer; a representative of the DSS, Mr. Peter Okon; Commandant-General of the Kogi Vigilante Service, Omeiza Sani.

Other attendees are;ALGON Chairman, Hon. Tosin Olokun; the Executive Chairman of Yagba West; all 17 Local Government Chairmen; Area Commanders; Tactical Commanders; and Divisional Police Officers.

Discussions focused on assessing the prevailing security situation in the state, reviewing crime trends, identifying emerging threats, and proffering practical solutions to operational challenges.
