Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has commissioned 40 refurbished vehicles belonging to the state-owned transport company, as part of efforts to revitalise public transportation and improve mobility across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, the commissioning ceremony was held at the Government House in Kano on Monday.

Speaking at the event, Yusuf said the rehabilitation of the vehicles was in line with his administration’s commitment to strengthening public infrastructure, creating employment opportunities and addressing transportation challenges faced by residents.

He stated that the move formed part of a broader strategy to restore the efficiency of state-owned enterprises through improved management structures and proper maintenance of public assets.

“The transportation sector plays a vital role in economic development,” the governor said, urging staff of the state transport company to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles and discharge their duties with integrity and professionalism.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to invest in key sectors to drive sustainable development and enhance the welfare of the people.
