Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq sent his condolences to the family of Pa Gabriel Ladipo and the sports community in Nigeria over the passing of the sports legend, educationist, and counsellor.
Pa Oladipo, who was the first black man to be Principal of the Government Technical Training School (GTTS) in Ilorin, was known for his tremendous leadership roles in the education and sports industries in Nigeria.
He was also an athlete, coach, referee, and a renowned sports administrator who chaired the Kwara State Sports Promotion Committee, which later metamorphosed into the Kwara State Sports Council. Pa Ladipo was its first chairman and chairman of the Kwara Stadium Development Committee — aside from other leadership positions he held in the sports sector nationwide.
The governor in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, said Ladipo’s death marked the end of a glorious era in the sports sector, adding that his legacies remain evergreen.
He asks God to receive the soul of the sports legend and to uphold his family after his death.
