Activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of Bauchi State commenced yesterday with the unveiling by Governor Bala Mohammed of the anniversary logo celebrating the golden jubilee of statehood, unity, shared progress and collective heritage.
Unveiling the logo in a ceremony at the Government House, the governor described the anniversary as a moment for reflections on Bauchi’s heritage, resilience and diversity.
He said the anniversary logo symbolised unity and inclusiveness through motifs representing the 20 local government areas and destiny, with gold reflecting achievement and green signifying hope statewide.
The governor noted with delight that Bauchi State’s progress since its creation in 1976 was built on sacrifice, collective effort and the resilience of its people, drawing strength from diversity, industry and commitment.
“Today we formally begin the journey towards celebrating a defining milestone in our collective history, Bauchi State at 50, our golden jubilee,” the governor said.
Mohammed added that the event was for all indigenes of the state, and urged them and friends at home and abroad to mark the occasion as a moment of reflection, renewal and shared responsibility.
According to the governor, the concept draws inspiration from the geographical identity of Bauchi State, its 20 local government areas, and the collective journey of its people over five decades of socio-economic, cultural and political development.
The 20 circular motif reflects unity and inclusiveness, signifying all the LGAs and diverse communities coming together as one State. The golden color expresses achievement, value, and optimism, while the green elements represent fertility, agriculture, life, and hope, which are core strengths of Bauchi State.
“The anniversary logo we are unveiling today captures this journey. The circular motive represents our 20 local government areas, symbols using unity, inclusiveness and a shared destiny. The gold colour represents achievement, value and optimism, while the green element speaks of fertility, agriculture, life and hope, enduring strength of Bauchi State,” the governor said.
The map outline reinforces identity, territorial pride, and rootedness, emphasising Bauchi’s distinct place in Nigeria’s history and future. Overall, the Bauchi State @ 50 concept celebrates the past, acknowledges the present, and inspires a forward-looking vision k
honouring our roots while building a stronger, innovative, and prosperous Bauchi for future generations.
The governor further stated that special Juma’at prayers and inter-denominational church services, commemorative assembly tree planting exercise, anniversary public lecture and panel discussion at the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Center Bauchi, as well as mini-durber and cultural displays at the Sulaiman Adamu Square government house Bauchi would form part of the activities of the 50th anniversary.
Governor Mohammed who said a gala night and award presentations would be held at the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Center Bauchi to deserving citizens of the state, explained that the anniversary is the business of all the people of Bauchi state.
