Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has cautioned traditional institutions against colluding with criminal elements, warning that such actions pose a serious threat to peace and security in the state.
The governor gave the warning when he received the Emir of Duguri, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri, at his residence in Yelwan Duguri yesterday.
He said traditional rulers play a crucial role in intelligence gathering, early warning systems, and community policing, describing them as indispensable partners in maintaining security.
Governor Mohammed commended the people of Duguri and their neighbouring communities for sustaining peaceful coexistence, noting that the area remains a symbol of unity, tolerance, and communal harmony.
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Bauchi State, emphasising that lasting peace can only be achieved through effective collaboration between the government, traditional institutions, and the general public.
The Governor also encouraged residents to embrace agriculture as a viable means of economic empowerment, assuring them of continued government support through the provision of improved farm inputs and other agricultural incentives aimed at boosting productivity.
For his part, the Emir of Duguri, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the warm reception and pledged the continued support of the traditional institution towards promoting peace, security, and development.
He explained that the visit was also to welcome the Governor home and celebrate with him as he reconnected with family, friends, and members of the community.
