The immediate past commissioner for special duties in Kogi State, Comrade Yahaya Adesayo Ismail, is dead.
Ismail, who died on Monday evening, was a member of Governor Yahaya Bello’s cabinet until last week when the State Executive Council (SEC) was dissolved.
In a condolence message, Governor Yahaya Bello expressed profound grief over what he called the “untimely death” of Ismail, whose sad event occurred on Monday.
A statement signed by the chief press secretary (CPS) to the governor, Onogwu Muhammad, yesterday, quoted the governor as describing Ismail’s death as a shocking, tragic, and heart-wrenching event with a profound sense of grief.
Governor Bello stated that Ismail was not merely a dedicated member of his cabinet but also an unwavering friend who stood steadfastly by his side throughout his political journey.
“A trustworthy man who lived for Allah and humanity with immeasurable love and compassion to all,” he stated.
He acknowledged the deceased’s invaluable contributions to the growth and development of both his community and the entire state and beyond.
In extending heartfelt prayers for the eternal repose of Ismail’s soul, Governor Bello encouraged the grieving family to find solace in the remarkable life he led which was marked by unequalled commitment to serving God and humanity.
He was said to be hale and hearty until Monday evening when the news of his death broke out.
Ismail was buried yesterday morning according to Islamic rites in his hometown of Aiyegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government area.
