Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of two serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly, describing their near-simultaneous demise as a dark and heartbreaking moment for the state.

The governor’s condolence message was contained in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Until their demise, Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji represented Kano Municipal Local Government Area and served as Chairman of the House Committee on Pilgrims, while Hon. Aminu Sa’adu was the lawmaker representing Ungoggo Local Government Area and Chairman of the House Appropriation Committee.

Governor Yusuf said the loss of the two legislators within hours has thrown the government and people of Kano into collective grief, noting that the tragedy is one that words can hardly describe.

According to him, the late lawmakers were dedicated public servants and dependable representatives of their constituents, whose commitment to lawmaking and grassroots development remained unquestionable.

“Kano State has lost two of its sons who devoted their lives to public service. Their sudden departure has created a painful vacuum in the Assembly and in their respective communities,” the governor said.

He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, the leadership and members of the Kano State House of Assembly, as well as the people of Kano Municipal and Ungogo Local Government Areas.

Governor Yusuf prayed that Allah (SWT) forgive the shortcomings of the late lawmakers, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and give their families and the entire people of Kano the strength to bear the loss.

He also called on residents of the state to remain calm, united, and prayerful, describing the incident as a test of faith and collective resilience.

Hon. Sa’adu has since been buried at the Ungoggo Cemetery, while funeral prayers for Hon. Daneji have been slated for Thursday.

“On behalf of the government and the good people of Kano State, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Kano State House of Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore and the families of the deceased lawmakers. May Aljannatul Firdaus be their final abode,” the statement added.
