Governorship Race: Aspirant Drafts Aondo Into Benue Rescue Mission

The Benue Rescue and Rebuild Mission governorship campaign has continued to consolidate its structures with the appointment of Chief Jerry Aondo (SAN) as acting director and head of the Legal Directorate.

The decision, approved by governorship hopeful, Prof. Sebastian Tar Hon, SAN (Semawan-u-Tiv), reflects a deliberate strategy to fortify the campaign’s legal and advocacy machinery ahead of the 2027 elections.

Aondo, a seasoned lawyer and prominent human rights activist, was elevated to the prestigious rank of SAN on October 1, 2024, by the Chief Justice of Nigeria. He urged the Steering Committee to channel its energy into the objectives of the Benue Rescue and Rebuild Mission, warning against distractions that could arise from frivolous issues. According to him, the campaign’s strength lies in its vision and its unwavering dedication to rebuilding Benue State.

The governorship hopeful commended the Steering Committee and the Media Team for their dedication and professionalism, noting that their efforts have already laid a strong foundation for success. He said synergy among the campaign’s legal, media, and advisory arms will be crucial in securing victory at the polls.

Dr. Ngutor Anyam, chairman of the Steering Committee, welcomed the appointment, describing it as a timely intervention that will energize the campaign’s legal and advocacy strategies.
