North Central Forum for Peace and Development (NCFPD) has expressed support for the former governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye, to emerge the new national chairman of the ruling party.

The group also expressed confidence in the former governor’s capacity to lead the APC to victory in future elections, given his experience and record of achievements.

It commended President Bola Tinubu for his exceptional choices of individuals forming his teams and for achieving long-lasting developments in all ramifications.

In a statement issued by the national coordinator Haruna Musa in Abuja, it appreciated the president’s brave efforts in implementing his Renewed Hope Agenda, which is already yielding tremendous multifaceted results in our socio-economic life as a nation.

It noted that as a concerned forum with one of its major goals being the peaceful coexistence within Nigeria and the country’s development, particularly in the North Central zone, it finds it imperative to contribute to the national discussion on who becomes the next national chairman of the APC.

It emphasised that “It is our firm belief that the APC should consider as its national chairman a detribalised and selfless administrator with a track record of robust electoral victories and vast political experience.”

“We believe that the APC should look towards a person of impeccable character, proven public acceptance, and sound leadership acumen to steer its ship aright towards our Renewed Hope’s destination,” the statement said.

“We have painstakingly conducted opinion polls among the members of the public in our North Central Region. After holistic consideration of major factors, we arrived at an undoubted conclusion that H. E. Sen. Joshua Dariye, a former Governor of Plateau State (and a former Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum), stands tallest among the contenders being projected to be the APC’s next substantive National Chairman,” it said.

It noted that Sen. Joshua Dariye has maintained his posture as a man of peaceful disposition, a visionary who is very well committed to the ideals of the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president.

“He is proven to have successfully weathered many political storms, especially when he was Plateau State’s Governor; and he did all as a calm, law-abiding citizen, through the courts. He was also one of the very few politicians, aside Mr. President, who were able to fight off the domineering fangs of the first democratically elected President of Nigeria,” the group said.

“It is our firm position that the selection of H. E Joshua Dariye from the North Central Region, who is of the Christian Faith, as National Chairman of the APC, shall extensively increase the Party’s fortune forthwith,” it added.

According to it, “We are very much optimistic that upon his emergence as the APC’s National Chairman, he shall hit the ground running by exhibiting his excellent public relations skills nationwide, leveraging on Mr. President’s connections and goodwill well combined with his experience in piloting the affairs of the party.”
