Supporters of former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) under the aegis of Akwa Ibom Movement For Obi’23 (AMO) have expressed optimism that he will win the presidential election in 2023.
They also expressed delight that the movement has finally berthed in the state. This followed the emergence of Mr Joseph Isaiah Akpabio as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the state.
While describing the emergence of Akpabio, as “the face of young people in the state”, the convener, Hon Jackson Etim, and secretary-general, Mrs Charity Edoho, noted that his emergence was a testimony of the fact that “anyone could rise to become anything in life”.
While congratulating the candidate on his emergence yesterday, he said: “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, State Executive Committee, Chapter Coordinators and all the members of Akwa Ibom Movement For Obi’23 (AMO’23), we rise to heartily congratulate our founding member and governorship candidate of our great party, the Labour Party (LP); Mr Joseph Isaiah Akpabio, on his landslide victory during the party’s governorship primary election held recently in Uyo, the state capital.
“We also wish to congratulate the Mr. Lincoln Charles-led state executive of our party on the successful conduct of a rancour-free party primary elections across the state.
“Our governor in -waiting, in our various conversations with you, you have never failed to express your deep concerns about state of things in Akwa Ibom, in spite of huge allocations received.
“As an American-trained community health expert, you have always wished that you had the opportunity of governing the state so as to bring to bear your vast wealth of knowledge, to turn around the state’s health system positively”, he said.
He expressed the readiness of the group to leverage on the unprecedented acceptability and popularity of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi.
