There are fears in Umuafom community in Orogwe, Owerri West local government area of Imo State following the invasion of gunmen who killed seven people and two badly injured on Monday.
Residents told LEADERSHIP that the gunmen came in two vehicles and a motorbike at at about 9:30 pm on Monday and took people, mostly security guards unaware as they shot in separate locations.
A resident said; “While four of them were shot dead at a building not too far from a hospital, the other three were shot at a new building in the area called Corpers’ Lodge. The two people injured were trying to escape, one commercial motorcyclist was shot on the leg and dispossed of his motorcycle.”
According to him, operatives of Ebube-Agu had whisked away a young man from the community before the gunmen invaded.
Imo State police spokesman, Mike Abattam, confirmed the incident, but could not ascertain if those killed were security guards.
Abattam disclosed that already the police had commenced a manhunt for the perpetrators.
