“He was going about his duty when some men riding on a motorcycle suddenly came and rained bullets on him,” the source said anonymously.

As the incident occurred, market women and other people around started scampering to safety to avoid being hit by stray bullets.

“The man was seen in the pool of his own blood after his killers flee the scene of the incident having carried out their heinous act,” the eyewitness added.

Lamenting that the murder would be the second time in the last one month that such incident happened in the area, he said, “One man was also killed in a similar version very close to Oluyemi Kayode Stadium about three weeks ago. Government and security agencies must do something to arrest the situation”.

Chairman of Okada Riders’ Association in the state, Kunle Asaolu, when contacted, though could not immediately disclose the name of the deceased, however, confirmed him as a member of the association assigned to Okesa Area.

Also confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Sunday Abutu said police have commenced investigation into the murder.

The remains of the deceased has been deposited at the Ekiti State Teaching hospital morgue.
