Guti Warns Real Madrid Against Re-appointing Mourinho As Manager

Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti has advised the club against reappointing José Mourinho as their next manager, amid speculation surrounding the future of current boss Álvaro Arbeloa.

Arbeloa is widely expected to depart at the end of the season following a disappointing campaign in which Real Madrid are set to finish without a major trophy. The situation has fuelled rumours that Mourinho, currently managing Fenerbahçe, could make a sensational return to the Santiago Bernabéu.

However, Guti has expressed reservations about such a move, suggesting that Mourinho’s best years may already be behind him. Speaking in an interview, the former midfielder acknowledged Mourinho’s achievements but insisted that the club should look towards more progressive options.

“Mourinho is a great coach, but I believe his prime is no longer now,” Guti stated. “There are other managers in better form at present who would be more suitable for Real Madrid.”

Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, delivering a La Liga title during a fiercely competitive era dominated by rivals FC Barcelona. Despite domestic success, he was unable to secure the UEFA Champions League trophy, a key objective for the club.
