Filmmaker Mary Njoku has questioned the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mojisola Adeyeye, over fake products in the country.
In a social media post, she said she would never forget her laughter during the food safety controversy.
Mary questioned whether we are safe now or if this is the usual Nigerian cycle where we cry out, but nothing gets resolved, and bigger problems come along to bury the old ones.
“Good morning. How far with the NAFDAC mummy whose laughter during the food safety controversy I will never forget?
“Are we actually safe now?
Or is this the usual Nigerian cycle where we cry out, nothing gets resolved, and bigger problems come along to bury the old ones?
“Someone, please update me. Have we illiterates finally earned the right to eat safely, or must we first acquire a PhD in food safety to compensate for the regulators?”.
The NAFDAC DG, days ago, had described Nigerians as very ignorant and blamed the poor understanding of pesticide instructions and the responsibilities of regulatory agencies for some food safety challenges in the country.
Responding to her statement, Mary slammed her for shifting the burden of her job onto the public. The actress asked Mrs Adeyeye whether she was doing her job effectively or waiting for citizens to do it for her.
