The President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Jibril Saidu Ojih, has called upon all stakeholders in Nigerian handball to embrace unity, peace, and a collective commitment towards the sport’s growth across the country.

Mr Ojih, in a statement released by the Federation media unit in Abuja, implored coaches, players, referees, county associations, club owners, fans, and well-wishers to pray for harmony and progress within the handball community. He noted that the sport’s strength lies in togetherness rather than division.

“Our strength as a sport lies not in our divisions, but in our ability to stand together as one family,” Mr Ojih stated.

He further urged stakeholders to “join in prayer for peace, harmony, and growth within our sport” so that handball in Nigeria can continue to produce champions and bring glory to the nation.

The HFN President stressed that his administration remains open and inclusive to every stakeholder, irrespective of past affiliations. He added that he is “not a president to any group or faction,” but to the entire handball family in Nigeria.

“Under my leadership, every voice matters, and every contribution counts,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to involving everyone in the sport’s development.

Mr Ojih also pledged to consolidate the achievements of his predecessor, Mr Samuel Ocheho, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots development, improve competitions, and create more opportunities for athletes and officials.

“I am committed to building on the solid legacies laid by my predecessor, Samuel Ocheho. The foundation he set will be consolidated and strengthened as we work together to expand the reach of handball and create more opportunities for our athletes and officials,” he said.

He further appealed to stakeholders to prioritise the sport’s interest above personal differences in order to attract more partnerships, youth participation, and success for Nigerian handball.

“Let us put the interest of the sport above personal differences. Let us promote peace at all times, both on and off the court,” he added.

The HFN President expressed optimism that with unity and shared purpose, Nigerian handball would continue to attain greater heights both domestically and internationally.
