How China’s GDP Grew By 4.7% Despite Complex Global Environment- Envoy

The Ambassador of China to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has said that despite a complex global environment and sluggish recovery, China’s economy remains resilient, stressing that in the first half of this year, China’s GDP grew by 4.7 per centp, securing a strong start for the 15th Five-Year Plan.

The envoy said this during his remarks during the reception to celebrate the 77^th anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China in Abuja, adding that this achievement is backed by China’s most complete new energy supply chain, as the country continues to stabilize global energy markets.

He noted that this was achieved by fostering new quality productive forces, emerging tech drivers like AI, robotics, and innovative pharmaceuticals are thriving, driving global industrial upgrades through “Created by China.”

He said, “Today, China is advancing national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization, injecting certainty and creating new opportunities for global development. To embrace China is to embrace the future; to walk with China is to walk with opportunity.

“This year marks the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China. The CPC Central Committee introduced Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building, systematically answering how to build a long-term governing Marxist party. This offers valuable insights for Global South nations exploring their own development paths, contributing Chinese wisdom to political civilization and demonstrating the CPC’s global vision.”

He announced that this autumn, China will host the Global Governance Forum in Xiong’an to further advance a community with a shared future for mankind. He emphasized that China is stepping onto the world stage with growing confidence, adding that  global polls reflect rising favorability toward China, while topics like “Becoming Chinese” or “Chinamaxxing” trends on social media with views exceeding 4 billion.

He pointed out that more foreign visitors are experiencing immersive Chinese travel, products, and culture, witnessing diverse paths to modernization firsthand.

He reiterated that China has implemented zero-tariff treatment to 53 African countries starting May 1, stressing that the impact was immediate as China’s imports from Africa grew by 24% in May and June alone. This, he said, helps turn Africa’s resource advantages into industrial strength, boosting the African Continental Free Trade Area and a fairer global trading system.

Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe in his remarks commended China’s leadership for their sustained commitment to national development and saluted the generations of Chinese Citizens whose perseverance has advanced the country.

Tegbe, who is also the Director General of China- Nigeria Strategic Partnership  noted China’s advancement and achievement in manufacturing, science, ICT, clean energy command confidence, which culminated in lifting almost 800 million people out of poverty since the reforms of 1978.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to One –China Policy and commended China’s contributions to the Nigerian economy through investment, finance and engineering to projects such as Lekki Deep Seaport, railway modernization, the Zungeru power station among many others.
