Work has reached another significant milestone on the reconstruction of the Sardauna Memorial Stadium, with the installation of its state-of-the-art hybrid synthetic turf pitch now underway.

The development was confirmed by the Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Sports Facilities Construction Limited, Ebi Egbe, whose company is handling the project. Egbe announced the commencement of the pitch installation on his social media platforms, describing it as another major step towards the completion of the landmark facility.

The installation of the hybrid synthetic turf signals that the long-awaited stadium project is entering its final phase and raises hopes that the facility will soon be ready for use.

Once completed, the Sardauna Memorial Stadium will become the first stadium in Zamfara State to feature a hybrid synthetic turf pitch, marking a significant milestone in the state’s sporting infrastructure.

The modern playing surface is expected to provide a durable, all-weather facility capable of hosting football matches and other sporting activities throughout the year while reducing maintenance costs compared to conventional natural grass pitches.

The project is widely regarded as a major investment in the development of sports in Zamfara and the wider North-West region. Stakeholders believe the upgraded stadium will create opportunities for grassroots sports, talent discovery and the organisation of national and regional competitions, while also boosting youth participation in sports.

Beyond football, the facility is expected to serve as a hub for community recreation and sporting excellence, helping to nurture the next generation of athletes from the state.

The latest progress underscores the commitment of the project contractors to delivering a modern stadium that meets contemporary standards. With work on the hybrid synthetic turf now in full swing, anticipation is growing that the revamped Sardauna Memorial Stadium will soon open its doors as a flagship sporting arena capable of driving sports development and inspiring a new era of athletic success in Zamfara State.
