Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has assured residents that his administration will leave behind a more secure, stable, and economically prosperous state for the next government.

Governor Zulum gave the assurance on Monday while receiving a delegation of prominent sons and daughters of Gubio Local Government Area at the Government House, Maiduguri. The delegation, led by elder statesman Alhaji Gambo Gubio, visited alongside the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Engr. Mustapha Gubio.

Among those in the delegation were the Chairman of the Borno State Civil Service Commission, Dr. Bulama Mali Gubio; former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Fanta Baba Shehu; Executive Chairman of Gubio Local Government, Hon. Mali Bulama Mali; a retired Commissioner of Police; and former council chairmen.

Addressing the visitors, Governor Zulum acknowledged the challenges confronting the state, especially insecurity, but maintained that his administration remains committed to consolidating on its achievements and strengthening the foundation for long-term development.

“Security remains the most difficult challenge. Insha Allah, before I leave office, the situation will be better than it is today. I will hand over a more stable, more prosperous, and more secure Borno State to Engr. Mustapha Gubio,” the governor said.

Zulum noted that sustaining progress is often more difficult than achieving it and called for continued prayers and support for the APC governorship candidate.

“What matters is not only achieving success but sustaining it. Managing the affairs of Borno State is not easy, but with collective support, prayers, and guidance, God will grant him the wisdom and strength to succeed,” he stated.

Speaking on the character of the APC candidate, Zulum described Engr. Mustapha Gubio was a man of integrity, humility, and calm disposition, saying he had known him for over two decades.

“I have known Mustapha Gubio for the past 26 years, since his days at the University of Maiduguri. He is humane, gentle, composed, and a person of integrity. Insha Allah, God will help him carry the mantle of leadership in Borno State,” he added.

The governor also pledged continued prayers for the candidate, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the state.

Reflecting on the beginning of his administration in 2019, Zulum recounted the sacrifices made in confronting the state’s security and humanitarian crises.

“When I assumed office, within the first 55 days, I saw my children only three times. The first four years were extremely difficult, but by the grace of Almighty Allah, we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

Zulum thanked the delegation for the visit and urged them to remain steadfast in faith.
