Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia says he will not take the Governor of Year 2023 Award by LEADERSHIP Group Ltd for granted.
Governor Alia stated this yesterday when the management team of LEADERSHIP Group Ltd led by the vice chairman, Chief Michael Okpere, presented the nomination letter to him at the Government House, Makurdi, the state capital.
Others in the team were the director, LEADERSHIP Group Ltd, Mr. Abraham Nda-Isaiah and the director, Special Projects, Agbo Augustine.
In his response, Governor Alia, who commended LEADERSHIP for rewarding hard work, dedication and excellence, said the award would spur him to do more for Benue to rise again.
While accepting to be at the conference in person, which is slated for March 5, 2024, to receive the award, the governor urged his cabinet members to be dedicated and determined in the course of their duties to achieve better results.
Presenting the letter to the governor during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting, Okpere disclosed that in 14 years of the Awards, “this is the first time it is coming to Benue State.”
He said of the 20 years of LEADERSHIP’s existence, the organisation has identified and awarded many organisations and persons who have impacted meaningfully on the lives of people in different ways across the country.
According to him, people chosen for these awards are those who have worked hard for the development of the society and humanity, and have impacted the lives of people, especially the downtrodden.
He said they are usually chosen through investigations by the conference team and this year, the Governor of Benue State has been selected for his developmental strides within a few months in office.
