The International of World Peace Advocates has appointed Chief Amb. Johnny Metchie as the Africa Director of the association for a renewable period of two years for an intense engagement towards the maintenance and promotion of world Peace with the international community in Africa.
Speaking to our newsmen the International Spokesman of the association Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke said Chief Johnny Metchie’s numerous contributions in areas of peace and sustainable development have earlier before this time earned him the award of the International Eminent Peace Ambassador and appointing him as their Africa Director of the association is a global decision in the right direction.
The ceremony which took place at Umueri Town in Anambra State on 30th July 2022 also witnessed the FLAG-OFF of the United Nations Plan of Action to Safeguard Religious Cites in Unity and Solidarity for Safe and Peaceful Worship which was done by Amb. Johnny Metchie to mark his first assignment as the Africa Director of the association.
Plans are on the way to map all worship Cites in Umueri Town into the United Nations Geographical Information Systems via the Satellite Center to Safeguard Worship Cites in the town. This is a new initiative taken by the United Nations Alliance for Civilization and facilitated by the International Association of World Peace Advocates to keep religious Cites on a constant surveillance against attack of any form. With this in place, violent attack on worship Cites will be minimized if not eradicated as that would help in promoting peace among members of the Umueri Town and it’s neighboring Communities.
On a practical note, Umueri Community is the first community in Nigeria to beginning the mapping of religious Cites as at today’s record which may start on 1st of August 2022. The World Peace President Amb. Per Stafsen was the Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony and in his speech he congratulated Amb. Johnny Metchie for his award and appointment as the Africa Director of the association and charged him to do all his best to support the United Nations in promoting world Peace and good governance in Nigeria particularly on achieving the sustainable development goals
In his response, Amb. Johnny Metchie thanked all the invited guests including the His Royal Majesty, Sir Benneth Emeka, Oke Ebo of Umueri Community and the Anambra State Commissioner of Police and Commissioner of Transport, Hon. Patricia Ifeoma Igwebuike for attending the event and promised the organization that he will never fail them on this international assignment assuring them that as for promoting peace he do all he can to making it possible leaving no one beheld.
