An amateur boxer identified as Kehinde, popularly known as KBlaq, has been stabbed to death during a street confrontation at Olodo Garage in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Sunday, has sparked outrage on social media, with acquaintances of the deceased calling for justice and demanding that the suspected killer be brought to account.
Accounts circulating online suggest that Kehinde was not involved in the initial fight, which had reportedly ended before the suspect allegedly arrived and attacked him with a broken bottle.
The suspect was alleged to have stabbed the boxer in the neck, leaving him with fatal injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear, while several social media users have questioned why Kehinde was attacked despite claims that he was not involved in the earlier altercation.
An X user, @MVKAY2, alleged that the stabbing occurred after the initial fight had ended.
“The person who stabbed him was not even involved in the fight, and they had stopped fighting already. Just one of those vile men wey the matter no concern came from nowhere and stabbed him,” the user wrote.
Another user, @omononaolapo, also claimed that the suspected attacker was not among those involved in the original confrontation.
Describing the deceased as his brother, another user, @Tunde, expressed grief over the killing and criticised the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Na my brother o. Ajeh. Olodo bike men can be very mean sometimes, and they were all there watching them fight,” he wrote.
Similarly, @Fela said he was shocked to learn about the killing, explaining that the deceased was a friend of his younger brother.
Another user, @Pelumifundz, who described Kehinde as the younger brother of a friend, said the deceased was a twin and was known to be gentle and peaceful.
The user also called for a thorough investigation to establish what led to the fatal attack.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying an investigation is ongoing.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the development but did not provide further details on the circumstances of the killing.
The police are expected to establish the events leading to the stabbing and determine the identity and whereabouts of the suspected attacker.
