Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo has another reason to celebrate, following her recent engagement and appointment by the Enugu State Government.
The movie star announced her appointment as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Peter Mbah on Film and Creative Industry Development in a social media post.
Okonkwo, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity, said she received the appointment with humility and a deep sense of responsibility.
She described the role as an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the creative industry in her home state, support emerging talents and filmmakers, and promote Enugu as a destination for film, arts, culture and entertainment.
The actress also highlighted the creative sector’s potential to drive economic growth, create jobs, preserve cultural heritage and enhance global recognition.
“I have spent years building my career in the entertainment industry, contributing to Nollywood, championing creative expression, and creating platforms that inspire and empower others,” she said.
Thanking Governor Mbah for the confidence placed in her, Okonkwo described the appointment as more than a title, calling it “a call to impact.”
She also expressed excitement about serving Enugu State in a new capacity and contributing to the future of its creative industry.
The appointment, which she said was granted in September, comes shortly after the actress announced her engagement, making it a celebratory period for the Nollywood star.
