The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Minna District Society, has inaugurated Mr Ephraim Oryina Mue as its 9th chairman, who reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening professionalism, transparency, accountability, and capacity development within the accounting profession.

Speaking during the investiture ceremony of the 2026/2027 Executive Committee held over the weekend in Minna, the newly inaugurated Chairman outlined a seven-point agenda to guide his administration, even as he pledged to consolidate on the achievements of previous leaderships.

He said the cardinal points of his administration included inclusivity and member engagement; advocacy and strategic engagement; institutional branding and collaborations; community and corporate social responsibility; membership and capacity development; technical sessions and continuous professional development; and youth participation.

Mue stated that his administration would further advance these priorities through enhanced human capacity development and improved welfare for institute members.

He noted that the Minna District Society would deepen collaboration with relevant stakeholders to promote professionalism, transparency, and probity in both public and private sectors.

“I am aware of the daunting responsibilities that lie ahead of us for the administrative year. However, with your support and prayers, nothing is insurmountable. We will explore continuing professional development programmes aimed at equipping young professionals with the skills required to meet the challenges of the AI generation, data analytics, and emerging technologies,” he said.

The Chairman emphasised ICAN’s commitment to promoting accountability through its Accountability Index, a mechanism used to assess financial management practices across the states of the federation.

ICAN has always been at the forefront of championing transparency through the ICAN Accountability Index. We will continue to deepen collaboration in this area and engage government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to strengthen probity and accountability in the civil service,” he added.

Mue further assured members that efforts would be intensified to bridge professional knowledge gaps through effective technical and training programmes.
