ICAN Takes ‘Catch Them Young’ Campaign To Niger Schools

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has taken its catch them young programme of enlightenment to Secondary Schools in Bida headquarters of Bida local government area of Niger State.

Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman represented by the permanent secretary, Economic Affairs, Dr Idris Abdullahi Legbo called on the students to develop interest in accountancy as it will help them change the world.

Alhaji Usman described accountancy as one of the most flexible and robust professions in the world, as the services of the practitioners are needed in every sector of the economy, hence encouraged students with interest in accountancy to work hard to achieve their dream.

He reminded the students that accounting profession provides them with social, economic, administrative and many more opportunities such as widening their knowledge in various fields of endeavour. 

The SSG charged the students to acquaint themselves with the modern knowledge of computer especially excel and other relevant applications, stressing that global accounting profession is now done electronically.

Usman enjoined the students to put into practice all they learnt during the programme and also extend the knowledge to fellow students.

Some students who spoke at the event expressed their love for accountancy profession, and thanked organisers of the event for hosting such a programme for them.

The event which took place at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida attracted secondary school students and their teachers from both private and public schools across Bida local government area, and exposed them to the benefits of becoming professional accountants.
