The inspector-general of police, IGP Olukayode Egbetekun, has ordered a clampdown on attackers of a police station and Police officers in Borno State.

Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a resolute response to the recent explosion attack at Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State on January 9, 2025, at about 12.10am, which led to the death of two police officers; Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat, the IGP has condemned the attack and ordered an immediate and thorough clampdown on the perpetrators as any cop-killer will not go unpunished.

The IGP expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased officers, affirming that their sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten, as their benefits and entitlements will be immediately paid to their families.

The Force PRO further said the IGP has directed the Zone 15 assistant inspector-general of police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to mobilise adequate resources and personnel, collaborate with other security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of the nefarious act were found and caused to face the full wrath of the law.

The IGP also reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to holding accountable those who jeopardise and disrupt the security arrangement and safety in Nigeria.
