Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd), and former old Imo State governor, Major-Gen. Ike Nwachukwu (rtd), have commended Abia State governor , Alex Otti, for his development projects across the state, expressing confidence that his performance has positioned him strongly for a second term in office.

The retired military officers spoke during the commissioning of the 2.35-kilometre Obilohia-Amune-Ovim Umuakwu Road in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, one of several projects inaugurated by the governor as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office.

The two elder statesmen, alongside former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah, praised Otti’s project-driven leadership, saying it had transformed governance and accelerated development across various parts of the state.

They noted that the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and service delivery had distinguished it from previous governments and earned the confidence of many residents.

Earlier, Governor Otti commissioned additional projects in Ohafia, Bende and other communities in Isuikwuato Local Government Area as part of the anniversary celebrations.

Speaking during the event, the governor announced that Section Three of the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Ohafia Road had been named after the late Chief Otisi Kalu, whom he described as one of the pillars of his political movement.

Otti said the late Kalu made remarkable contributions to society and was widely respected for his intellectual accomplishments.

He also commended the construction firm that handled the road project for delivering quality work in line with approved specifications and for drawing attention to underground challenges that affected the initial completion timeline.

On the sidelines of the event, the Director-General of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority, Obinna Odum, expressed appreciation to the governor for executing numerous projects across Abia North.

Odum said Otti’s achievements had left a lasting impact on the state and had earned him widespread support among the people.

According to him, the governor’s performance has written his name in gold in the history of the state, assuring that residents would reward him with their votes in the 2027 governorship election.
