The Imo State Police Command has arrested the traditional ruler of Isi Mgbidi, Eze Anozie Augustine Agbarambo, for allegedly sponsoring the Eastern Security Network (ESN) of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Along with him, Ikechukwu Uba, residing in the same area and claimed to be an ESN commander, was also apprehended.

Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the arrests in a statement.

According to Okoye, Uba, allegedly loyal to Biafra’s self-proclaimed Prime Minister, Simon Ekpa, was captured during a raid by the anti-kidnapping squad on December 16. Three others were arrested alongside him at their hideout.

During interrogation, Uba reportedly confessed to leading the Mgbidi axis of ESN and masterminding attacks on Omuma Police Station and soldiers in Mgbidi and Awo-Mmama.

“He further revealed receiving funds from Finland-based Simon Ekpa for carrying out terrorist attacks in the state,” the statement stated.

Uba’s information led to the subsequent arrest of one of his alleged sponsors, Eze Agbarambo. A search of the monarch’s house yielded two locally made long guns, one double-barreled long gun, and 33 rounds of ammunition.

Okoye assured that a thorough investigation is underway, and the suspects will face court upon its completion.
