Imo Set For NUJ Zonal Council Congress

All is now set for Imo State to host the 2025 South East (Zone C) Zonal Executive Council  Congress (ZEC) of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The meeting holds today in Owerri, the state capital.

According to a statement from the Media Department, Office of the NUJ Zonal Vice President, Comrade  Ezenwa Adiuku, “It is Imo’s turn to host the zonal gathering, which rotates among the five states of the South East.

The meeting, earlier fixed for last weekend, was shifted to the new date to ensure full participation of delegates from across the zone.”

Speaking ahead of the event, the South East Vice President of NUJ, Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku, described the ZEC meeting as the highest decision-making body of the Union at the zonal level.

He explained that members of the ZEC will also participate in the inauguration ceremony of the incoming Chairman of the Imo State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma, scheduled for the same day.

“The ZEC meeting is where issues affecting the Union at the zonal level are deliberated upon and key decisions are taken,” Adiuku said.

“All five states in the South East will present their reports for consideration, and resolutions from the meeting will be forwarded to the NUJ National Secretariat in Abuja. We look forward to a productive session.”

The last South East ZEC meeting of the NUJ was hosted by the Anambra State Council in Awka.
