Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers has waded into the impasse between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly, following impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu.

To this end, the council has established a nine-member committee, headed by King Suanu Baridam, to assess the political situation in the state.

The chairman of the traditional rulers’ council, Eze Chike Worlu-Wodo, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said Eze Nwachukwu Nnam-Obi will serve as co-chairman of the committee.

Worlu-Wodo said other members of the committee are Eze Uchechukwu Isaiah-Elikwu, Eze Leslie Eke, Dr Samuel Amaechi, Dr Felix Otuwarikpo, and Eze Barr. Onyekachi Amaonwu, King Agolia Aboko and Eze Nwankwo Nwankwo, while Barrister Darlington Owiriwa will serve as Secretary.

Meanwhile, two more members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Barile Nwakoh and Hon. Emilia Amadi, have withdrawn their support from the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, by the House.

Nwakoh represents Khana Constituency I in the House, while Amadi represents Obio/Akpor Constituency 2.
