The head of Chancery, Mr. Pramod Kumar Agrawal, made the promise when the board of the FCT Badminton Association led by its chairman, Comptroller Usman Bappa (Rtd), paid a courtesy on the Indian Embassy, applauding the initiative by the board to include Indian and other Asian communities in it’s competitions,

Speaking during the visit, Chairman, FCT Badminton Association, Comptroller Usman Bappa (Rtd), emphasised the need for collaboration with the Indian Embassy and communities in Nigeria to strengthen the sport.

“We wish to express our gratitude for your warm reception today. We are here to communicate our desire to collaborate with you, recognising your active involvement in badminton, not just from the Indian Embassy but also from the Indian community in the FCT. The beautiful game of badminton has its roots traced back to Ancient Greece, China, and India,” Bappa stated.

FCT Badminton chieftain used the opportunity to inform his host about the board’s initiative to organise competitions for underprivileged children both in and out of school.

saying the board is working diligently to equip over 45 clubs in the FCT to provide players and officials with regular training sessions.

“We are currently finalising details on a significant event and project close to our hearts, the Asian Badminton Cup, where we aim to involve other Asian communities, not just the Indians. The competition is designed to honour the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, with the Indian community playing a prominent part.”

The board in a statement by its head of media, Uche Nwudoh Hillary, appealed for equipment, which has become costly for the players to afford due to the prevailing economic climate.
