The Oyo State Government has lifted the security curfew imposed on 10 local government areas following the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire, assuring residents that the security situation is under control and that they can resume their normal activities.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.
Oyelade thanked residents of the affected local government areas for their cooperation, patience and understanding during the period the curfew was in force.
He said the state government was closely monitoring the security situation and reassured residents that efforts were ongoing to bring the kidnapping episode to an end and ensure the safety of lives and property.
The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible information.
The state government had initially imposed a 16-hour curfew on the affected communities in response to the kidnapping incident before extending it with an additional one-day curfew on Thursday.
