Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has sought the support of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to strengthen the activities of the institution and enhance project management in the country.

The president and chairman, Governing Council of the institute, Dr Victoria Okoronwo made this known during a courtesy visit to the executive secretary of NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed in Abuja.

Okoronkwo explained that the NUC as the sole regulator of Universities in the country was in the best position to guide the Institute in its operations.

While decrying the spate of project abandonment and building collapse in the country, she said such required action from all stakeholders to address.

According to her, project management cut across all discipline in the tertiary institutions and capable hands are needed to handle most of the projects to reduce wastage and ensure prudent management of resources.

“Project management includes taking care of any project in the country including project practitioners who are capable of delivering projects.

“Nobody will like to take responsibility for any project that has collapsed or abandoned, hence everyone will take glory of what is good and leave out what is not good that needs to be good,” she said.

Okoronkwo, therefore, called on all project engineers and managers to register with the Institute as stipulated by the act establishing it.
